U15 FL: First defeat for St Ultans/Cortown Gaels

October 11, 2018

St Ultans/Cortown Gaels 3-06
Trim 5-06

Trim inflected the first defeat of the campaign on St Ultans/Cortown Gaels in this rd 3, div 2, u15 game. The game was played in blustery conditions in Cortown.

The Gaels opened up the brighter with Michael Hilliard scoring a goal within the first minute of the throw-in. Playing with a strong breeze the Gaels were dominate in the opening exchanges. The pressure told when Tommy Buchanan scored his sides second goal.

Trim answered back with two goals of their own. The Gaels, helped by a strong display around the middle from Luca Brady, dominated the rest of the half. Scoring 6 points - through Hilliard, 4points, and Buchanan, 2 points, - to Trim’s 2 points.

Half-time score St Ultans/Cortown Gaels 2-06, Trim 2-02.

The second half was stop-start. Neither team could get a foothold and push on. Trim did open the brighter with 2 points. A strong searching run from Paudí Rennicks resulted in a goal for the boys in green and white. This only seemed to inspire Trim though. They went on to score 3 goals while the Gaels didn’t score for the remainder of the half.

Trim were well worth their victory. For the Gaels it’s Summerhill next.
