AFL4: No luck for Drumconrath in Dromone

July 10, 2018

Drumconrath's Patrick Farrelly

Moylagh 5-22  Drumconrath 1-10

Drumconrath traveled to Moylagh to fulfill their Round 11 fixture in Division 4 of the A Leagues on Monday night. The result was a comprehensive defeat as our hosts where hoping that St Brigids might slip up and they themselves could nick 3rd spot and the playoff place.

The Drums, after having a torrid time in getting 15 players on the pitch, did not throw in the towel and made the 90km round trip to the North West outpost.

Shane Byrne having fulfilled the ambition to play along side his son Daniel 4 or 5 years ago got to do so again as he is now nearer his 50th year than his 40th. Selector Leighton Irwin another over 40 also dusted down the boots.

Moyagh lead 3-11 to 0-5 at the break and while Drums battled hard the second half scoring was similar.

Drumconrath: Eoin Muldoon; John Lynch, Patrick Dunne, Cathal Dunne; Robert McEntaggart, Tomas Conlon, Cathal McEvoy; Stephan Crosby (1-2), Chris Tighe (0-1); Patrick Farrelly (0-2), Daniel Byrne (0-4), Conor Martin; Michael Og O'Gallachoir, Shane Byrne, Leighton Irwin (0-1).
