FL Div 1: Big win for Skryne

June 11, 2018

Skryne's Paddy O'Rourke

Skryne 3-16 Ratoath 1-9

Skryne maintained their position at the top of the A League Division 1 table with this convincing win over Ratoath in Skryne. Both teams were short a number of players due to County commitments with Ratoath more severely affected.

However the game itself did not suffer as a result ,and both teams  served up some good entertaining football for the small attendance. On a splendid evening for football Ratoath began well and led by 4 points to 3 after fifteen minutes. Then Bryan Davis finished an excellent four man move to give Skryne their first goal and a lead they never relinquished. Paddy Fox added the second goal for the Blues to add to their 8 first half points. The pick of these scores was a great point from the impressive Declan Morley who bombed upfield from his corner back position. This gave Skryne a halftime lead of 2-8 to 0-5.

The second half was one way traffic towards the Road End goals and when David McGoldrick scored Skrynes third goal the game was as good as over after ten minutes of this period. To their credit Ratoath did recover a little composure and scored 1-4 late on.
