Dunsany outscored St. Vincent's seven points to five in the second half reducing the deficit to a single point with only minutes remaining but the Ardcath men scored the last two points through Tommy Field and Paddy Arnold to win by three clear points after eight minutes of added time.

Dunsany Report

Dunsany slumped to a disappointing 4-point defeat on a sunny Friday evening in Donore.

From the start Dunsany were on the back foot as the Ardcath men started brightly and took the early lead. Dunsany kept in touch, in what was a tight opening 10 minute, through the boot of the impressive Pierre Fox. 'Vincents then upped the tempo and surged into a 3-point lead before Dunsany were awarded a penalty in the 13th minute. Declan Smyth and raced through the defence and was about to pull the trigger when he was taken out by two defenders. Smyth was subsequently forced to come off after the incident and no card was awarded to the perpetrator.

Fox dispatched the penalty with minimal fuss to leave the sides level. This was to be Dunsany's last score of the half as Vincet's again took over and went in at the break 0-11 to 1-3 ahead.

Dunsany improved in the second half and kept the Ardcath side to 2 points for the first 25 minutes of the half and reduced the defict to a point with 3 minutes of normal time left. But this was to be as close as Dunsany would get as St.Vincents would see the game out and seal the victory in the fading light in Donore.
