IFC: Castletown suffer second defeat

Castletown went down to their second defeat in a row in this years Intermediate Football Championship in a sunny Seneschalstown.

Donaghmore/Ashbourne opened the scoring with a free after just three minutes. A barren spell which seen neither team take a score ended after 12 minutes when Kevin Ross scored a goal to open Castletowns account. Donaghamore /Ashbourne replied instantly with a goal of their own after this both teams went point for point for a 10 minute period. The teams were level on the run in to half time when Donaghmore/Ashbourne got their second goal. The first half scorers were Darren Finney (0-01) and Kevin Ross (1-4(1f)). This left the half time score Castletown 1-05 Donaghmore/Ashbourne 2-04.

Donaghmore/Ashbourne started off the second half as they finished the first scoring their third goal of the game and quickly following it up with a point to leave them six points in front. From here the eventual winners never lost their lead although a Castletown revival got them back to within three points but couldn't get any closer. The second half scorers were Kevin Ross (0-3 (1f, 1(45)) and Darren Finney (0-04).
