SFC: First points for Rathkenny

Rathkenny came away from Duleek on Friday night with their first points of the campaign after a game played in beautiful conditions. 

St. Pat's opened the scoring after 3 minutes with Niall Mooney popping over a free after a foul in front of the Rathkenny posts.  Rathkenny missed a lot of chances in the opening quarter but took control of the game after points from Jack Gore, Barney Lehenan Brian Meade and Keith Curtis put Rathkenny ahead. At this point Rathkenny were dominating the  middle of the park and moving the ball with real pace. Mooney added another free on 17 minutes but Rathkenny finished the half strong again after Keith Curtis added a free and Keith Timmons slotted over from play.

The second half kicked off with a flurry of scores in the first 8 minutes. Keith Curtis replied to a Pat's point on 3 mins as the game was starting to collect pace. Pat's added another point but a fast team break down the field from Rathkenny led to a point from Jack Gore after 5 mins. St. Patrick's added the next four points after this, including 3 frees which gave them hope. However, Rathkenny again finished the half stronger with points from Curtis and Gore rounding off a great team performance.
