March 12, 2018

Drumconrath's Daniel Byrne

Drumconrath 2-7 Slane 0-13

Drumconrath rued some missed chances with a number of wides and two clearcut goal chances as Slane made the most of this and snatched a draw with last kick of game.

Drums had started well with Daniel Byrne pointing and Chris Tighe finding the net after just 3 minutes. Slane pointed a free but two more Byrne points left 5 in it as Drumconrath where in full control. Slane aded another point as Pado Farrelly sent a screamer just wide. The sides swapped points with Byrne again for Drums as the half ended 1-4 to 0-4.

Sean Murray opened the 2nd half scoring but Slane where now having a purple patch and they added 4 points on the bounce to level the game. Farrelly pointed Drumconrath ahead again as gavin Finnegan missed a great goal chance and Slane took solace from that and pushed 3 point ahead with 12 minutes remaining.

Finnegan made amends with a fine goal to level the game and on 59 minutes Byrne pointed a 45 and it looked like Drumconrath had done enough but a late Slane attack resulted in a close in free and it was honours even.

Byrne played really well for Drumconrath as Tomas Conlon and Robbie McEntaggart doing well around the middle. Patrick Dunne had a solid game at Full Back and got best support from David O'Halloran when he was moved into defence
