Ben Brennan kicked four points for Meath against Carlow

Mixed fortunes for Meath last night in the O'Byrne Cup and the Walsh Cup. 

O'Byrne Cup

Meath 0-9 Carlow 0-7

Late points from the impressive Ben Brennan and Donal Lenihan gave Andy McEntee's charges a two point win over Carlow at Netwatch Cullen Park. Meath take on Wicklow on Sunday in Pairc Tailteann and a win will put them in to the semi final.

The visitors raced into a 0-3 to 0-0 lead but Carlow fought back and there was only a point in it at the break Meath 0-4 Carlow 0-3.

Meath 0-14 Dublin 4-17

Nick Fitzgerald's charges were no match for a new look Dublin outfit. This was Pat Gilroys first competitive match in charge and his team led 2-11 to 0-7 at the break.

The Kiltale trio of Jack Regan, James Kelly and Anthony Forde accounted for 10 of the Royals 14 scores.

Meath scorers: Jack Regan 0-6, James Kelly 0-3, Anthony Forde, James Toher, Paddy Conneely and Neil Heffernan 0-1 each.

Dublin play Antrim in the final group game on Sunday in Parnell Park.
