Awards: Club Camogie Player of the Year

December 29, 2017

Kilmessan pause for the National Anthem before the start of the senior camogie final against Na Fianna at Trim.

Yet again, Kilmessan were crowned the senior camogie champions and what a year they had as they went on to add Leinster and All-Ireland honours.

They defeated Na Fianna in the final as their long dominance in the county continues and looks set to remain for the next few years at least.

There were some outstanding displays throughout the campaign and here we narrow down our three best performers to just one by naming our club player of the year.

Aoife Minogue (Dunderry): She was the driving force behind Dunderry's intermediate success as they defeated Ratoath in the final, with the Dunderry player picking up the Player of the Match award.

Leah Devine (Na Fianna): This youngster is a real star of the future and she played with an experience beyond her years this year, battling hard against Kilmessan in the county final.

However, our award goes to Aileen Donnelly (Kilmessan): An amazing year for the veteran forward picking up junior and senior medals on the same day, playing pivotal roles in both games, before helping to guide the side to provincial and All-Ireland honours.

Well done Aileen.
