Delaney set to be elected secretary as O'Halloran withdraws

November 22, 2017

Leinster PRO Martin O'Halloran

Dunshaughlin's Mairead Delaney is secretary-elect of Meath GAA as Martin O'Halloran has declared himself a non-runner.

Outgoing assistant secretary Delaney and outgoing PRO O'Halloran - who must stand down because of the five-year rule - are the only two nominees to take over from Dunsany's Francis Flynn who also has to vacate his position because of the five year rule.

Rathmolyon clubman O'Halloran is also nominated for the roles of vice-chairman, assistant secretary and Irish officer but he informed hoganstand.com/meath this morning that his Leinster Council commitments will take priority going forward after he was elected PRO of the provincial council earlier this year.

O'Halloran leaves the position of PRO in Meath in a better place than he found it.

Back in January he won the Leinster Council Programme of the Year award for the third year-in-a-row while he won the McNamee award for the 2013 programme he produced for the Summerhill versus Na Fianna county final.

Meath's loss is Leinster's gain.
