Gaeil Colmcille 3-15 Boardsmill 0-11

Gaeil Colmcille cruised into the 2017 Meath Junior B Football Final with a 13 point win over Boardsmill in Kildalkey on Sunday morning.

It was Barry Farrelly, who, having changed his Junior B pre match meal from pizza for a ham sandwich must have worked as he top scored for the winners putting 1-09 on the scoreboard.

Kells, who were playing with the advantage of a strong breeze in their backs got off to the perfect start scoring 1-02 in the opening five minutes all thanks to Stevie McManus. Boardsmill responded with a point of their own  before Gary Arkin's hat-trick of points left Kells 1-05 to 0-01 up after 15 minutes. Another McManus point along with a Farrelly tagging on five extra points meant Kells would go into the break 12 points to the good leading 1-11 to 0-02

If there was to be any problems playing into the wind were settled when Farrelly scored three free kicks to stretch out Kells lead. Kells went close to scoring a second goal when great work by Dylan Roche played Farrelly through on goal, but Farrelly being unselfish squared to Shane Freeman who narrowly shot wide. That second goal would come when Freeman would turn provider playing the ball along the ground to Farrelly who calmly passed stroked the ball by the helpless Boardsmill keeper leaving Kells ahead 2-14 to 0-05. Boardsmill went on to score four points in a row before Kells drove the final nail in the coffin when a shot by Cormac Mattimoe came back off the post, kindly fell to Roche who sent Kells into the final where they'll meet Kilbride who overcame Slane in the other Semi Final.
