Past heartbreak can drive on Castlebar

Barry Moran says Castlebar Mitchel's can reflect on past heartbreak to inspire them against Crossmaglen in Saturday's All-Ireland club SFC semi-final.

The Connacht champions travel to Cavan town vying to upset their Ulster counterparts and Moran feels that harsh lessons have been learned by the team since 2014's final defeat to St Vincent's.

"The way we look at the All-Ireland final that we lost is that we gained a lot of experience and we're hoping we can use some of that experience," Moran told RTE Sport.

"We've lost one or two players but we have the core of the lads that we had two years ago that got to the All-Ireland final. They're still with us and playing well, we're two years more mature and we've more experience that will bode well for us in the future."

As for the opposition on Saturday, Moran says the Armagh champions' reputation speaks for itself.

"What can you say about Crossmaglen? They're such a great club. The tradition they have and the history they have," he said.

"But we have a great club as well and if we go in with the right attitude and play well, then we're well capable of taking them on and hopefully getting a result."

"We've looked at Crossmaglen and they've got threats all over the field. You've got Aaron Kernan in the half-back line and Tony Kernan in the half-forward line, as well as Jamie Clarke and these lads on the inside. We know that if we're not up to 100% and touch-tight that these boys can cause us serious problems."

Throw-in at Kingspan Breffni Park is at 6.15pm.
