Mayo managers Noel Connelly and Pat Holmes released a total of eight players from their senior squad last week.

Former rugby international Gavin Duffy's omission attracted most of the headlines but other high-profile players chopped include Enda Varley and Darren Coen.

In addition to that trio, the co-managers also let Caolan Crowe (Garrymore), Alex Corduff (Ballina), Keith Rogers (Ballaghaderreen), Stephen Duffy (Crossmolina) and Peter Dravins (Breaffy) return to their clubs.

In injury news, Jason Gibbons, Michael Conroy, Andy Moran, Brendan Harrison and Chris Barrett will all miss Sunday's clash with Monaghan, while Seamus O'Shea, Tom Cunniffe, Alan Dillon, Tom Parsons and Diarmuid O'Connor are all in contention to feature.
