Clarke taking nothing for granted

June 20, 2012

Kerry's Colm Cooper is tackled by Donal Vaughan and goalkeeper David Clarke Mayo at Austin Stack Park.
David Clarke may be the current Mayo number one, but he knows that could change quickly.

Clarke has forced his way back into the side and has taken his chance to regain the number one spot after Robert Hennelly suffered an elbow injury during the FBD league.

Now, the Mayo vice captain is eager to keep his place, but knows that any slip up could cost him his place.

"At the start of the year I put my head down and hoped I'd get a chance," Clarke told the Western People. "Unfortunately for Rob, he picked up a bad injury on his elbow and I played a few FBD games and things just took off.

"But, I know how quickly things can change and I'm taking nothing for granted."
