All-Ireland club JFC semi-final: Malee the Kiltimagh hero
February 01, 2010
A 40th minute goal from substitute Ronan Malee proved decisive as Mayo's Kiltimagh booked their place in the AIB All-Ireland club JFC final at Emyvale's expense in Pearse Park yesterday.
Kiltimagh (Mayo) 1-10
Emyvale (Monaghan) 1-5
The goal proved the turning point as Kiltimagh tagged on five points without reply in the final quarter to seal their place in the Croke Park final against Kerry's Castlegregory later this month.
A superb Gareth McQuaid goal had Monaghan side Emyvale 1-3 to 0-4 ahead at the interval, and they looked set for victory when Robbie McHugh and Daniel McMahon added points after the restart.
But inspired by man of the match Tomas Morley, Kiltimagh scored an unanswered 1-5 in the time remaining with a flurry of late points from frees from Mayo minor Ciaran Charlton making sure of the win.
