O'Mahony close to finalising league team

Mayo manager John O'Mahony
Mayo boss John O'Mahony admits that he has "a fair idea" of what his team will be for Sunday week's eagerly-awaited NFL opener against Galway.
O'Mahony says he has got as much as he wanted out of the FBD League, even though Mayo could still qualify for the final if they beat Roscommon in next Sunday's clash at Ballinlough by more than IT Sligo beat NUIG.
"I'd have a fair idea of what it (the starting team against Galway) will look like in my head," he said in the Mayo News.
"We'll wait until after next Sunday and see where that will bring us."
Reflecting on last Sunday's draw with IT Sligo, the Mayo manager added: "It was a good workout.
"We'd have liked to get the points but we didn't. We tried a few more players. Getting to a final was never a priority. We just wanted to put as much into the game as we could. I thought when we got the goal early in the second half we might have pushed on but fair play to them, they kept fighting back.
"We'd a hard week's training as well, trying to get ready for two weeks' time, and that would have deadened us a little."
O'Mahony expressed disappointment at the fact that the National League opener won't now be played under lights at McHale Park due to a planning issue.
"I think everyone would, as a spectacle and an atmospheric thing. I think the crowd will be halved on Sunday. It would have been a great atmosphere on Saturday night so from that point of view it would have been good but there'll always be a bit of an atmosphere no matter when you play Galway.
"But the night match would have added that little something, especially with the fact that it would have been the opening under lights, but what can we do but keep kicking ball."
