O'Mahony: Players need game time

A jubliant John O'Mahony
Mayo manager John O'Mahony admits that lack of outdoor training so far this year means that he has to give his more established stars as much game time as possible ahead of the league next month. The artic conditions experienced in the Ireland this year meant that all county teams were forced to train indoors, which is certainly not ideal ahead of a new campaign. Early season competitions are generally used to run the rule over fringe players, but O'Mahony played a relatively strong side against NUIG in the FBD league last weekend. "We needed to get games for a lot of our players that will be playing Galway in three weeks time," O'Mahony told the Mayo News. "Over the next two weeks other fellas will get game time. "In the past we might have put out a much more experimental team in January, but we needed match practice for guys that will be playing in the national league."
