Castlebar Mitchels and Mayo player Barry Moran
Mayo manager John O'Mahony is sweating on the fitness of big full forward Barry Moran ahead of the Connacht SFC final against Galway on July 19.
Moran was forced to retire with a leg injury in Castlebar Mitchel's senior league defeat of Tourmakeady yesterday, and he is expected to have a scan today to assess the extent of the damage.
Even though he didn't score in Mayo's facile Connacht SFC semi-final victory over Roscommon last Saturday week, Moran's height and physical presence caused all sorts of problems for the losers' defence, and he is a player John O'Mahony can ill-afford to be without as Mayo aim to avenge last year's narrow defeat to the Tribesmen in three weeks' time.
