Connacht SFC: Mayo cruise home

Mayo warm up prior to their Connacht SFC win over New York at Gaelic Park
Mayo 2-19 New York 0-10 It was all rather easy for Mayo in the end as two first half goals from Pat Harte and Aidan O'Shea set the tone for John O'Mahony's men who has a few nervous moments early on. Indeed, Mayo looked ill at ease with the astro turf style surface as the home side bagged four points without reply in the early minutes to race into an unexpected lead. Paddy Smith (2), Robert Moran and John McNicholas were all on target forEugene Kyne's charges but they would score just one more point before the interval as Mayo took over. Andy Moran opened the scoring for the visitors and the points started to flow for the men in the green and red, with newcomer Aidan O'Shea particularily impressive. By the time O'Shea grabbed his second point the sides were level and on 21 minutes Harte fired a goal after a fine run, before quick points from Alan Dillon, Moran and Ronan McGarrity helped Mayo to a 2-10 to 0-5 interval lead. Trevor Mortimer and Dillon extended the lead after the restart but New York to their credit kept plugging away as Smith hit two more scores but there was little chance of a comeback as Mayo kept the scoreboard minder busy.
