Staunton expecting close tie

November 23, 2008
Cornacon forward Cora Staunton is adamant that today's All-Ireland club ladies senior football championship final will be much closer than last year's decider against Inch Rovers. The Cork side had a few injury concerns last year, but they have came back strong this year and won the county and Provincial titles with relative ease and the experienced Staunton is in no doubt that the rebelettes will be gunning for revenge after last year's defeat. "Reading different match reports, it's clear that they have come on a lot since last year," says Staunton. "Mary O'Connor is back after missing the final because of injury and that will be a huge boost to them. We know it's going to be a tougher game; having lost the final the year before, a team coming back will be a lot more hungry." The final also has the added spice of being a Cork v. Mayo clash which has been turned into a great rivalry between the sides and today's match will just add to that.
