BALLINTUBBER G.A.A CLUB RELEASE SOCIAL HISTORY DVD All former Ballintubber players, their families, club supporters and all those associated with GAA down the years are asked to please note that the Ballintubber GAA Club DVD which covers the social and playing history of Ballintubber club since 1885 will released on Friday night December 5th in Corley's of Ballintubber at 8.30pm. Kilmane native Jonathan Mullin, RTE's GAA and sports correspondent, will launch the DVD.  The hour and a half long film made in co-operation with Tommy Hughes of Mayo Camera Club and gives extensive coverage to football matters and indeed life in all the local villages since the first recorded G.A.A match was played in the area in the late nineteenth century. Narration is by Sean Nestor and work on the club project began after the successful launch of the Clubs History "Face the Ball, Ballintubber " in 2000. The film features some wonderful local scenes of yesteryear and interviews with many club personalities, which is more poignant now as regretfully, some are deceased. The film is a tribute to the many who have gone before us, struggled on the playing fields and left us the tremendous facilities and the heritage we now possess. As well as covering GAA matters, this DVD charts the social history and background of the major changes in the area since 1885. The DVD will be a treasure in many homes in the Parish for decades to come and of great interest to the many exiles from the Parish scattered all over the world.  DVD's will be priced at Ä25 and a huge crowd is expected for what should be a most enjoyable occasion. Conor Duffy will supply the music on the occasion and refreshments will be served. More details will be announced over the coming weeks. Club gear Anyone who wishes to order club crested O'Neills gear (jackets, hoodies or t-shirts) for Christmas should contact club secretary, Michael Duffy on 087 9452529 as soon as possible.
