Mayo manager John O'Mahony expects rising midfield star Tom Parsons to be part of his squad next year, despite speculation linking him with a switch to Aussie Rules. It was reported on Tuesday that the Charlestown clubman has remained on in Melbourne after the recent International Rules series to hold talks with AFL agent Ricky Nixon, who held recruitment camps in Ireland during the summer. But O'Mahony rejected the suggestion, saying: "I don't know where that report originated from. There is definitely no truth in it. "In fact, Tom returned home with the rest of the Irish squad from Australia, and I met him on Sunday night to provide him with a personal weights programme which he will carry out over the winter months. "Tom is a very valued member of the Mayo panel and coming on the loss of Pearse Hanley (who joined the Brisbane Lions last year), it would have been very regrettable if he had been recruited by an AFL club. "So, of course I'm delighted that we will be able to call on Tom's services for next year's league and championship."
