Mayo dual star Keith Higgins flew out to Australia today for a six-month trip, but has vowed to be back in time for the start of the county's Connacht SFC campaign in New York next May. The decision by the former All-Ireland under 21 winning captain to travel abroad means he will miss Mayo's National Football and Hurling League campaigns. He said: "I've been thinking about it for the last year or so and I just felt this was the right time to go. "There is a gang of us from Ballyhaunis, Tooreen and Aghamore heading off together and I'm really looking forward to it. But I'll be back in April in time for next year's championship." Tweet
