Ballagh boss taking nothing for granted

November 06, 2008
Ballaghaderreen manager Frank Kelly is expecting a tough test from neighbours Eastern Harps in Sunday's Connacht club football semi-final at Markievicz Park. Ballagh, who are making their first appearance in the provincial competition in 36 years, are fancied to progress to the final, but Kelly knows the Sligo champions will be no pushovers, especially on their home patch. "I certainly wouldn't rate them as underdogs," he said of Harps, who are from just over the county boundary. "They've been winning championships regularly which is something we haven't been doing. I think it's easier to focus (on Connacht) when you have won a championship or two. They had a very convincing win against the Leitrim champions (Glencar-Manorhamilton) so I'm in doubt about the serious challenge that's in front of us. "They have a number of quality players with inter-county experience. Markievicz Park will be worth three or four points to them, they play there regularly whereas it'll be our lads first games down there. "It's very much going to be about who's up for it on the day and who wants it on the day because I don't see any difference between the sides," Kelly added.
