Uri Geller offers to help Mayo's All-Ireland quest

Mayo boss James Horan celebrates and right, World renowned illusionist Uri Geller.

World renowned illusionist Uri Geller has offered to help James Horan and Mayo to break their All-Ireland “curse”.

According to GAA folklore, the “curse” has hung over the county’s footballers ever since the 1951 All-Ireland winning team failed to stop to pay their respects at a funeral in Foxford on their return home from Croke Park.

It is believed that a priest vowed that they would not win the All-Ireland again until every member of the team had passed away.

The county has contested the Sam Maguire Cup decider nine times since 1989 and have come away empty-handed on each occasion.

Geller appeared on Off The Ball this morning via Skype from his Tel Aviv home and when informed about Mayo’s predicament by hosts Ger Gilroy and Eoin Sheehan, he offered his services to manager James Horan…

“Although I don’t believe in curses, there is no doubt there must be some kind of negative or dark energy also,” he said.

“James I’m talking to you straight, look into my eyes now, looking at you straight into the lens, you have nothing to lose, just buy a ticket and come and see me.

“I’ll invite you to my home, I’ll teach you a few amazing techniques of mind power. You show that energy, you show what I thought you to the players and you are going to start winning.”
