Ciaran McDonald could yet be added to the new Mayo football management team.

Rumours were rife before James Horan was handed a second term as manager at last night's county board meeting that the Crossmolina man would be part of the new set-up. But the only names confirmed for the backroom team were trainer Daniel Forde (Ballycastle), Martin Barrett (Kiltane) and James Burke (Ardnaree Sarsfields).

However, Horan has still to finalise his management set-up. The Ballintubber clubman is to hold trials in the coming weeks, telling the Irish Daily Star: "All clubs within Mayo will be contacted immediately seeking suggestions of players that may have the potential technical / tactical / physical / mental attributes required for the inter-county game.

"There has been a coaching movement in Mayo over the last number of years that has been staggering in its progression."
