ST KEVINS 0-11

Roche Emmets set up a showdown with Na Piarsaigh for the right to play in Division 2 next year after coming through this semi-final against St Kevins on Friday night.

In what proved to be a closely contested game for most of the hour, it was Roche who finished the stronger with three late points to settle a tense encounter.

Veteran Kevin Callaghan made all the difference for the winners as he landed an impressive total of eight points over the course of the game.

The Faughart side made the brighter start and raced into an early five point-lead. However, with Cian Callan leading the charge, the Kevins got themselves right back into contention and at the break were trailing by just 0-7 to 0-5.

The Philipstown men continued that momentum after the restart and it was looking good when they edged into a one-point lead.

Roche rallied and got back to level and after a spell of stalemate it was the Faughart side who found the extra bit of energy to clinch victory with a late flurry of scores.
