Nh Mairtin moved a point clear at the top of Division 1 after recording a 0-12 to 0-11 win over Geraldines at Monasterboice.

The hosts went into the game hoping to make up for their first defeat of the season in the previous outing but it was the Gers who had the better of things in the opening half and despite losing Sean Thornton to a red card they were 0-9 to 0-3 ahead at the break.

The Mairtins had Gavin Mooney dismissed early in the second half but his side got back into the game before two late points from Conor Whelan handed them a narrow victory. Shane O'Hanlon top scored for the Gers with five points, while Dara Hamill kicked three.

Peter Kirwan was the star of the show as Dreadnots continued their impressive run with a 4-12 to 1-10 win at home to Kilkerley Emmets.

The full-forward finished with a total of 4-6 to his name at the Clogherhead men consolidated their position in second place.

Kirwan scored all four goals in a blistering first half spell that ensured his team went in at the break with a commanding 4-5 to 1-4 lead, with James Fegan replying for the Emmets.

Kilkerley scored the first four points of the second half but their revival didn't last too long as the Dreadnots finished strongly to claim the points.

Clan na Gael are joint second in the table after they responded to their first defeat of the season with an impressive 2-18 to 0-7 win over town rivals, Dundalk Gaels.

The Clans looked to have the greater spring in their step from the outset and with Ray McCabe and Billy Smith leading the scoring they took a 0-10 to 0-4 advantage into the half time break.

Micheal McDonald scored the first goal of the game just after the restart and there was no way back for the Gaels after that. Late in the game JJ Quigley added a second goal for the winners. Sean McCann and Jason Clarke scored three points each for the Gaels.

For the second successive game, St Patricks failed to kill off a game from a strong second half position as they were forced to settle for a 1-12 apiece draw against a St Marys side who maintained their unbeaten start thanks to a late Alan Kirk point.

The Marys started brightly and with the help of points from Daire McConnon and Ronan Carroll they went 0-5 to 0-2 in front. However, the Pats hit back and scores from Conor Grogan and Aidan McCann helped them level at six points each at the end of the first half.

The Pats kicked the first four points of the second half before a Paddy Keenan goal had them 1-10 to 0-6 in front. The Marys comeback started almost immediately when Kian Moran hit the net and his side reeled the visitors in before Kirk's late point saw the game end in a draw.

Sean O'Mahonys consolidated their position in the chasing pack with their third victory of the campaign as they came out on top by 3-10 to 2-6 against Mattock Rangers.

A thrilling first half produced five goals but it was three from Ben McLaughlin (2) and Conor Crawley that helped the Dundalk side lead by 3-4 to 2-3 at the break. Michael McKeown and Hugh Donnelly scored the Mattock goals.

The goals dried up in the second half but it was the O'Mahonys who retained a grip of the game by outscoring their opponents by six points to three, to inflict a second successive defeat on Mattock.

Newtown Blues claimed their first point of the Division 1 campaign when they left Fr McEvoy Park with a 1-8 to 0-11 draw against Cooley Kickhams.

The Drogheda men were looking good for victory when a goal from Hugh McGinn on 43 minutes put them four clear. However, they were unable to kill the game off and a brace of points from Micheal Rafferty and Stephen Rafferty saw Cooley record their second successive draw.

The Blues had been the better of the teams in the first half and with Conor Brannigan in fine scoring form they led by 0-8 to 0-3 at half time. Gerry Malone and Aoghain McGuinness helped keep in touch and despite conceding the only goal, they battled to the end and secured a draw thanks to Conor Rafferty's late point.
