NH FIONNBARRA 3-9
ST KEVINS 1-8

Naomh Fionnbarra survived a second half rally from St Kevins before booking their place in the Junior Championship semi-final.

What started out as a turgid, dull affair, burst into life in an eventful second half as both teams gave their all in search of victory.

It was the Kevins who opened the scoring but with Jack Butterly and William Woods on target, the Togher men led by 0-3 to 0-2.

The Barrs then took a grip of the game with two goals inside a minute. Firstly, Bryan Sharkey fired home after Woods had a shot saved, and right from the restart Woods won possession and lobbed the ball into the empty net to make it 2-3 to 0-2 and that's how it remained until half time.

John Doyle and Padraig Butterly helped stretch the lead to 2-7 to 0-3 at the start of the second half, but the Kevins refused to give in.

The pulled a point back before sub Aidan Craven hit the net to give them real hope. However, his side failed to take advantage of a number of opportunities including a Seanie Crosbie penalty as a result they couldn't get closer than four points.

The Finbarrs steadied the ship on the closing stages and a goal from Woods sealed the victory.
