Kilkerley Emmets and O'Connells will battle it out in the dreaded relegation play-off final after both teams lost their semi-finals on Sunday in Dunleer.

Few would have predicted at the start of the season that this pairing but as a result of losing out to O Raghallaighs and Nh Mairtin, one of the clubs will be playing in the Intermediate Championship in 2015.

In the opening game, Nh Mairtin produced a strong second half display to keep themselves clear of the play-off final with a 1-15 to 1-7 win.

John Clutterbuck was the scoring hero for the Monasterboice side as he hit the net to see his side lead by 1-7 to 1-4 at half time, as Niall Conlon scored the goal for the Bellingham men.

The Mairtins maintained the pressure in the second half as the O'Connells failed to mount a real challenge.

Clutterbuck took his tally to 1-3 while Nicky McDonnell (4), JP Rooney (3) and Wayne Campbell also weighed in with important points over the hour to secure the win.

In the second game, a first half goal from Eoin Moore proved to be the difference as O Raghallaighs held out to defeat Kilkerley Emmets by 1-12 to 0-12.

In what was a tight encounter, the Drogheda men played the better over the hour and emerged deserving winners against a Kilkerley side who will be disappointed at having failed to take their second half chances.

In a very close first half, the teams traded scores throughout with Shane Lennon and Craig McEnteggart leading the way for their sides.

However, the vital goal arrived from the boot of Eoin Moore to send his side in leading by 1-8 to 0-8.

The second half followed a similar pattern with the O Raghallaighs managing to keep their noses in front. The Emmets did have a number of chances for points but elected to go for goal and the Drogheda defence held firm to secure a three-point win.
