Brendan Cummins has been crowned M Donnelly All-Ireland Poc Fada champion for a record eighth time.

The former Tipperary goalkeeper completed the course at Annaverna Mountain in Cooley, Co. Louth with 52 pucks and 63 metres. Derry's Ruairi Convery finished second with 57 pucks, 75 metres. Laois goalie Eoin Reilly was third with 57 pucks, 30 metres.

"It's a record I'd wanted to capture, but it was a very competitive event," Cummins told gaa.ie

"I knew the competition would be very stiff and I had prepared for that. It's an event that has increased in profile - the fact that GAA president Liam O'Neill was in attendance really boosted the profile, I think."

It was a memorable day also for Waterford's Patricia Jackman who won her sixth women's title. Donal McKernan from Antrim captured the U16 title at the rescheduled event, which took place in perfect weather conditions.
