Dowdallshill ladies progress

August 11, 2014
Louth ladies SFC result,

Dowdallshill 1-6
Roche Emmets 0-2.

Dowdallshill progressed to the ladies championship semi final this morning with a win over Roche in the game played at a rain sodden Dowdallshill. Indeed it was a credit to both teams on a good game in a constant downpour. The Dowdallshill girls were the best team over the hour and deservedly go through to a semi final with title favourites, Stabannon. In a low scoring first half, the home team led 4 points to 1 at half time with the scores coming from Sonia Hoey and Emily Norton with 2 each. The second half was only a minute old when the decisive score came along when Emily Norton scored a great goal, and even at that stage with the defence on top, there was likely to be only one winner. Further points late in the half from Emily Norton again and Nicole Hanratty sealed the victory with Roche only managing a single second half point.

For Dowdallshill, Una Pearson dealt with anything that came her way, in defence, Sinead o Keefe was outstanding along with Janine Kelly and Sharo o Connor who although wearing no 15 played as sweeper. At midfield, Emma Singleton and Kathy o Reilly were on top throughout and got enough ball forward for the required scores to be put on the board. In the forwards, Emily Norton stood out along with first half sub Aine Lynch and young Abbie o Connor also contributed well on her introduction.
