Aidan O'Rourke finds Andy McDonnell's defection from the Louth squad "very disappointing".

As the Wee County prepare for their Round One SF Qualifier against Antrim, it has emerged that the Newtown Blues clubman is spending the rest of the summer in America.

"It is very disappointing," O'Rourke notes in The Irish News. "Fellas make their own decision on those things and you just have to get on with it.

"Andy is one of our key forwards. He will be a loss to us, as will John O'Brien, who was sent off in injury time the last day and is suspended.

"When you get a bit of momentum and get a bit of a run, it's a very enjoyable experience playing in the Qualifiers. But getting that first win is always the biggest task."
