Double defeat doesn't dampen spirits
May 16, 2013
Louth footballers are confident despite suffering two defeats at the weekend.
As they finalise preparations for the Leinster SFC opener against Laois on May 26th, the Wee County took on Wicklow and Meath in challenge games last weekend.
The Garden County prevailed by 0-15 to 1-10 at Pentony Park in Drogheda on Saturday, with Louth captain Paddy Keenan asked to perform a sweeping role in front of the defence.
Encouragingly for the Reds, this match marked the return to intercounty action of Keenan's St Patricks clubmate Ray Finnegan, who set up full forward Sean Hand for the game's only goal.
In Trim the following evening, the Wee County lost by three points to neighbours Meath.
Between the two matches, manager Aidan O'Rourke got a good look at all his players with the Laois showdown looming ever closer.
