O'Connells Club Notes
May 15, 2013
O'Connell's lotto for Tuesday 14th May 2013.
Numbers: 7, 15, 26 & 29. No jackpot winner.
2 match 3 winners and each receive €100. Next week's jackpot €4,200.
Division 1: O'Connell's 1-6, St. Patricks 2-10. On Thursday night the county champions came to the Grove and we suffered our second defeat of the division one campaign. But we did not go down without a fight and the men from Lordship only secured their victory in the last four minutes. We had our chances and with only two between the teams had the chance to make it a one point game and things might have been different but it was not to be and we move on. It's back to the Sheelan Cup next Sunday and a quarter final versus St. Brides in the grove at 3.00pm.
Team: Stuart Reynolds; Andrew Shields, Conor Byrne, Micheal Cairns; Stephen Hoey, Jackie Agnew, Andrew Sharkey 0-1; Dean Stanfield, Sean Cairns; Robert Quigley, Salem Rifaie, Keith Woods; Mark Stanfield 0-3(1f), Niall Conlon 0-2(1f), Conor McGill 1-0. Subs Emmet Byrne for D. Stanfield. Division 4A: Clan Na Gael 4-15, O'Connell's 1-2. We travelled to Dundalk on Sunday morning and got a hammering from the Clans. Now it has to be said we were short a lot of players, but what is the point in playing in this grade if we can't field our best team. Sending 18 year olds and younger who have just started playing at adult level for us out on a wet day to get a hammering only makes them ask the question "why should we bother" and who could blame them? Time to sort this problem out be it now or at the start of next season. Well done to all the players that turned up on Sunday morning, it might have been a bad loss but you all showed you have the club at heart.
Team: David Eager; Aonghus Meehan, David Doyle, James Rath; Keith Woods, Stephen Hoey, David Neasy; Sean Cairns, Micheal Cairns; James Clearkin, Andrew Sharkey, John Paul Stanfield; Dean Corrigan 1-0, Ciaran O'Brien 0-1, Jonathon Conlon 0-1(1f). Subs Wayne Kierans for Conlon, Leslie Walsh for Eager.
