LOUTH SPECIAL HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP (MAURICE MURPHY CUP)
Both holders Knockbridge and St Fechins progressed directly to the semi finals of the Louth Special Hurling Championship with victories over Naomh Moninne and Pearse Og respectively on Saturday evening May 11.

At Pairc an Chuinnigh, Knockbridge had to work hard for their 3-8 to 2-7 victory over Moninne with goals from Brian Dunne and Mick Lundon in the space of 60 seconds midway through the first half helping them to lead by 2-3 to 0-3 at the break.

Moninne struck back with goals of their own from Ronan O Reilly and David Yore to tie up matters at 2-4 a piece after 40 minutes. Knockbridge regained the lead thanks to a fortuitous goal from Adrian Wallace and they sealed the win with points from Conor Kerrigan (2) and substitute Robert Wallace (2).

At the DKIT on Saturday evening recent Tain League Div 5 winners St Fechins recorded an impressive 5-11 to 3-6 victory Pearse Og and will take on Knockbridge in the first of the semi finals.

As first round losers both Naomh Moninne and Pearse Og face into quarter finals against Mattock Rangers and Glen Emmets respectively. Both of these quarter finals take place on Friday evening May 17 at 7pm.
