Matthews glad to do bit
April 18, 2012
Louth forward Shane Matthews was delighted to play a part in the rejuvenation of the county's fortunes.
The Wee County has been making headlines in football this year as their under-21's reached the Leinster final, while the senior squad laid the ghosts of the 2010 Leinster final firmly to rest by hammering Meath and ensuring their status in division 2 for another year.
Now, the minors are adding to the feel good factor in the county following their comfortable win over Westmeath in the provincial championship last weekend.
"It has been a great few weeks for the county and we are glad to be able to do our bit, so hopefully we can drive on from here," Matthews told the Dundalk Democrat.
"You never know what to expect in your first game, but we will take confidence from this and look forward to the quarter-final and hopefully take it from there."
