Louth manager Peter Fitzpatrick
Louth manager Peter Fitzpatrick is delighted with the form of Darren Clarke.

Fitzer has been pleased by his side's showing of late in challenge matches culminating in a win over Roscommon last weekend.

Now, the campaign starts for real this weekend as Louth face Westmeath in the opening round of the NFL at Haggardstown.

And, the Louth boss feels that the form of Darren Clarke heading into the league is a huge plus for the Wee County.

"I have a selection headache for Sunday after the games against Down, Crossmaglen and Roscommon," Fitzer told the Dundalk Democrat.

"One big plus from the games so far is the form of Darren Clarke. He's scoring points from play, penalties, frees, everything. He's a fantastic target man for us at the moment.

"Roscommon play a lot like Westmeath so that is why we wanted to play them and we are now looking forward to the game on Sunday."
