"Everything geared towards Westmeath - Fitzer

January 19, 2012

Louth manager Peter Fitzpatrick
Peter Fitzpatrick says Louth are fully focussed on their league opener against Westmeath.

The Wee County were comprehensively beaten by Meath in their first competitive outing of the year last weekend, exiting the O'Byrne Cup as a result, but their manager insists February 5th is a much more important date for his team:

"We know it's going to be a tough season ahead," he tells the Dundalk Democrat. "The Westmeath match on February 5th is the main one right now.

"We have a young team and we know it will be tough this year but we will leave no stone unturned.

"We played Meath in their own back yard, but we will take a lot from it and we know we have to fix a lot of things. But we will fix them.

"We have three weeks to get ourselves up and running. We have a few players to come back and it's a pity now that I have to organise challenge matches now as we have no competitive matches for the next three weeks.

"I've the head up high. We have a good management team put together, a nice panel there between 35 and 40 players.

"Everything is geared towards Westmeath on February 5th."
