Fitzer's pride

July 29, 2010

Louth manager Peter Fitzpatrick
Peter Fitzpatrick has expressed his pride in the Louth footballers for their 2010 efforts.

The Wee County produced a tremendous effort and would rightfully have been crowned Leinster champions for the first time since 1957 but for that now-infamous refereeing howler. Their manager reflects:

"I've never been so proud of a group of players and the commitment they gave me was second to none.

"We put demands on them, there was a drink ban since Christmas. The only thing I hope is that we can keep this panel together.

"I've had fantastic support from the County Board, the management team, and we have to keep it all together.

"The most important thing is to show that this is not a one-off for Louth.

"It's a very young team and we have some very good young lads coming through. The most important thing is to put our stamp on it again next year."
