St. Mochta's defeated the Young Irelands by two points in this tough bottom of the table league match in Louth Village.

It was the away team that started the brighter as the Irelands opened a 2 points to no score lead. However, St. Mochta's regrouped and scored 4 points in a row, through Gervais Marron (2) and Eamon O'Neill (3). The Irelands responded and the match got a lot closer as Joseph Flynn got a point to narrow the gap. Again St. Mochta's hit back with a point a-piece from Nigel Farrell and O'Neill. However, it was the Irelands who got the last score of the game with half back Peter Flynn finishing off a good move to take a well taken goal and leave the narrowest of margins between the sides at half time.

In a tough second half, which saw Nigel Farrell receive a straight red card, both sides traded points and ensured that the result wasn't secured until the end. However, it was the boot of Eamon O'Neill, with 6 pointed free's that helped give the Mochta's a 2 point victory.
The result has left the Young Irelands at the bottom of Division 2.
Best for the Mochta's were Gervais Marron and Eamon O'Neill while Peter Flynn and Ciaran Murray tried hard for the Irelands.
