GAA community asked to support charity event
March 02, 2010
The GAA community is being asked to support a charity fundraising event which takes place on St Patrick's Day.
The Pat Gogarty charity run/walk in aid of cancer charities will take place in Jenkinstown Forest Trail at 9am and all are invited to take part and get a bit of exercise while also helping a worthy cause.
Participants, who are being asked to make a donation, will meet at Bellurgan Utd's football field at 8.30am. Former Kilkerley Emmets and Roche Emmets player, Noel Litchfield, who is organising the event, is hoping for a big turn out for the event dedicated to Pat Gogarty who has been diagnosed with a serious illness.
"The idea of having it so early is that it will give people the chance to get back for the St Patrick's Day Parade and other events. It is also a great way to get a bit of exercise and help raise money for charity.
"Pat Gogarty is very well known in the area, as is his wife, Maureen, and children, Finian, Mark, Gavin and Olga. He was chairman of Kilkerley AC for years in the 1980s and involved with Nh Malachi so I'm sure there will be a big turn out for the event. It is open to everyone whether they want to run or walk", explained Noel.
Anyone wishing to take part or find out more details can contact Noel Litchfield at 087 2220877.
