Na Piarsaigh book final spot

Division 2 League Top 4 Semi Final - Pairc an tAthair Ui Dubhaigh, Blackrock Road, Dundalk. Tuesday 4th November 2008 Na Piarsaigh 5-15 Clans 1-4 Na Piarsaigh qualified for the final of the Division 2 League with a comprehensive victory over town rivals Clan Na Gael in the Semi-Final game played at Rock Road on Tuesday night.  The Clans had no answer to the pace and power of Na Piarsaigh who were 2-5 to 0-0 up after 13 minutes; Na Piarsaigh goals coming from Mark Larkin and Shane Callan. Clan Na Gael's sole first half point came from Paul Crewe after 18 minutes. Mark Larkin added another goal and points from David Boyle, Donal Hegarty and Gary O'Hare gave a 3-9 to 0-1 half time lead to the IFC finalists. Na Piarsaigh continued to exert their superiority in the second half and when Mark Larkin added two more goals and a point, and David Boyle chipped in with two points Na Piarsaigh led 5-13 to 0-1 twelve minutes into the 2nd half. Clans got two points back from Ray McCabe and Billy Smith before Billy Smith goaled for the Clans with ten minutes remaining. A Robert Nash point finished the Na Piarsaigh scoring at 5-15 before Billy Smith got the last score of the game from a free to leave Clans with a final total of 1-4. Na Piarsaigh scorers: Mark Larkin 4-3, Shane Callan 1-1, David Boyle 0-4; Donal Hegarty 0-2, Robbie Nash 0-2, Cormac Malone; Gary O'Hare and Joe Woods 0-1 Clans scorers: Billy Smith 1-2, Paul Crewe 0-1 and Ray McCabe 0-1. Na Piarsaigh were best served by Eamonn McAuley, Donal Hegarty, Robert Nash, David Boyle and Mark Larkin while Derek English, Mark McCann and Paul Crewe tried hard for Clans.
