Clonguish easily retain SFC crown

Clonguish..................1-15 Fr Manning Gaels......0-5 Clonguish retained their Longford SFC title with an emphatic victory over Fr Manning Gaels at a wet and windy Pearse Park on Sunday, October 3. Dominant all over the field, the Newtownforbes men proved much too strong for their outclassed neighbours whose entire tally of five points was registered by Padraic Davis. With Paul Barden running the show from centre forward, Clonguish had powered into a 0-7 to 0-2 lead by half-time. Four of those points were scored by the aforementioned Barden. It continued to be one-way traffic in the second half with substitute Enda Barden making a huge impact by scoring 0-5. His brother Paul added two more points before Joe O'Brien put the icing on the cake when he scored the game's only goal seven minutes from time.
