Longford manager Jack Sheedy believes that Liam Connerton and Dessie Reynolds have a bright future in the game.
The pair scored 2-03 between them as the Midlanders saw off the challenge of Carlow in the opening round of the All-Ireland SFC qualifiers.
Both started against the Barrowsiders and made telling contributions as Longford progress tow a meeting with Clare in the next round on Saturday week.
Speaking to the Longford Leader, Sheedy said: "Good footballers are good footballers, it doesn't matter what age they are. A game like that allowed us to play all those young lads.
"Once we got into a strong position it was more beneficial to get the young lads in to get game time and experience. Young lads can learn a lot from experienced guys; that's a very important part of the rebuilding process.
"Look at the key players in the defence, the likes of Dermot Brady, Barry Gilleran and Diarmuid Masterson who provide the inspiration."
