Carrickedmond manager Eugene McCormack is adamant that the hard work of the players earned them a second intermediate title in four years.

A one point win over Connollys saw Carrickedmond crowned champions and McCormack told the Longford Leader it wasn't easy.

"It was a fierce tough struggle. Great credit to the players, they were magnificent. In two hours of football there was only a kick of the ball between us. The lads just worked so hard," said McCormack.

"There was a heap of things we got wrong but we got the main thing right and that was winning."
