Longford Race Day generates €1m profit over 9-years

Next Wednesday sees the Longford GAA Race Day take place in Punchestown, with the event celebrating its tenth anniversary.
The event is being sponsored this year by RSM Farrell Grant Sparks, Chartered Accountants and it is anticipated that this year's event will be yet another success, ahead of the footballers league final against Wexford on the following Saturday.
Leinster Council chairman Martin Skelly is the co-ordinator of the event and the former county board chairman explained the importance of the day to the well being of the county.
"It's been a marvellous fund-raiser for the promotion of Gaelic games in the county. Over the past nine years it has generated over a €1m in profits for Longford, " explained Skelly to
Longford.gaa.ie.
Tickets cost €100 and include admission, a four course meal, afternoon refreshment, a race card, bar facilities, musical entertainment.
Longford are targeting sales of over 1,000. In the boom Celtic Tiger years the attendance was nearly double that.
