A historic game in Longford
February 03, 2012

Glennon Brothers Pearse Park, Longford.
Sunday will see Longford play at newly-rebranded Pearse Park for the first time.
Offaly are the visitors for the Division Three opener and this will be the first intercounty match to take place in the county grounds since the name of the venue was officially changed to Glennon Brothers Pearse Park in line with a sponsorship deal agreed with the local sawmill firm.
County Board chairman Pat Cahill told the Longford Leader that work on the venue is ongoing, with an estimated €100,000 to be spent over the next six months:
"We are doing work there at the minute by putting in extra turnstiles, exits, things like that. It's all about ease of access and getting people in and out of the ground.
"There are guidelines in place and we need to invest in these areas," the Carrickedmond clubman added, pointing to the May 20th deadline imposed by the impending Leinster championship opener against Laois at the county grounds.
