Barry Gilleran has been announced as the Longford Player of the Year for 2011.

The popular Longford Slasher's clubman was a key figure when the county claimed the Allianz FL Division 4 title in the Spring as he kept Roscommon dangerman Donie Shine scoreless in the final.

Add in the role he played as his club retained the county senior title and it was no surprise that Gilleran was the choice of the judging panel.

The player received his award at the Longford GAA All-Stars Gala Presentation last weekend. Tweet
