On Saturday last our Junior A championship panel played the semi final in Pearse Park. We started brightly scoring the opening 2 points. While our opponents responded with a point we then tagged on a further 1-1 to leave us with a 5-point advantage. Our lead was reduced further when Carrickedmond scored 2 points. Thomas Kelly then struck with his second goal of the half. However we came under pressure for the remainder of the half and at half time the scoreline was Dromard 2-6 Carrickedmond 2-5. The second half saw us again showing great commitment but we came out trailing at the final whistle by Dromard 2-6 Carrickedmond 3-10.Team and scorers; Danny Pettit, Thomas Conefrey, James Conefrey, Brendan McLoughlin, Kevin Kane, Ronan Duffy, Keith Masterson, Graham Owens, Padraic Mc Nerney, Mick Kane (0-1), Conor Duffy, Martin McGee (0-2) 2 frees, John Gray (0-2) 2 frees, Thomas Kelly (2-1), Kevin Maguire. On Sunday evening last our seniors faced Abbeylara in the championship semi final in Pearse Park. We opened up a 4-point to no score lead and both teams exchanged scores through the opening half. At half time we held a 0-10 to 0-3 lead. The second half saw us coming under considerable pressure as Abbeylara, enjoying the majority of possession, reduced the deficit to 2 points. We closed the scoring by getting a goal and a point to leave the final score Dromard 1-12 Abbeylara 0-9. Subs used; Noel Reynolds and Kevin Donohoe. We play Cashel away this Wednesday in the Div 1 league at 8.15pm. Now that we have reached another senior county final, people will be looking to buy flags, bunting, club jerseys, jackets etc and these will be available in the local shops shortly. This draw is confined to club members and the first twenty paid up club members in with the €50 entry will be included in the draw (please contact club registrars PJ Berry at 087 2592827 or Alan McLoughlin at 086 3537086. The club will be running a fundraising golf classic on 30th October 2010 and anyone interested in taking part or sponsoring teams etc should contact any of the club executive as soon as possible. Further details in the coming weeks. Lotto Results for Monday night 23rd August 2010. The numbers drawn were 9, 13, 22 and 23. There was no jackpot winner. The winners of the draw were Cáit & Ciaran Murphy, Gerry Mimnagh, Rosie Sexton and Bridie McCabe. The seller's prize was won by Nuala McLoughlin.
St. Francis - Dromard
We had two outings for our under 10's over the past week at home to St. Vincent's on Tuesday and away to Gowna on Thursday. Thanks to all players who attended. Our under 16 final didn't take place on Saturday as scheduled and will now probably take place at a later date. Thanks to Bríd Mimnagh Solicitors and MC Packaging for their sponsorship of kit for the under 16 team. On Sunday last our minor panel played Clonguish Óg in the minor league. Despite coming out second best on the scoreboard our team never stopped competing up until the final whistle. We play Colmcille on Sunday next in Pairc na Gael at 12.45pm. We have an under 12 blitz in Abbeylara on Thursday next.
